The Zango-Jaba Youth Assembly for Good Governance (YAGG) has formally called for a more inclusive distribution of political representation within the Zangon Kataf/Jaba Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.
During a press conference in Kaduna on Thursday, the coalition’s chairman, Hon. Bitrus Dabo, argued that the historical understanding of power rotation between the two local government areas must be upheld to maintain regional harmony.
The group pointed to a perceived imbalance in the current political landscape, noting that Zangon Kataf Local Government Area holds a disproportionate share of high-ranking offices, including the Minister of Defence and the district’s senatorial seat.
The coalition clarified that its stance is not intended to foster division but to ensure that Jaba Local Government Area is not marginalized in the next political cycle. By advocating for the House of Representatives seat to be zoned to Jaba, the assembly believes the constituency can achieve a fairer balance of power.
While praising the Tinubu administration’s inclusive appointment strategy at the federal level, the group appealed to Governor Uba Sani to ensure that similar principles of fairness are applied to local political arrangements.
