Prominent media entrepreneur and scholar Dr. Osaro Pedro Agbonifo Obaseki, popularly known as Don Pedro, has initiated a fundamental rights enforcement suit seeking ₦500 million in damages.

The lawsuit follows an alleged incident on December 28, 2025, in which Dr. Obaseki claims he was abducted, physically assaulted, and publicly humiliated by a group of armed individuals in Benin City.

The suit, filed by the law firm of Femi Falana, SAN, names 11 individuals including Osazee “Kabaka” Adun and Osamede “Nomoless” Eriyo alongside the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) as respondents.

Dr. Obaseki alleges that he was stripped naked and paraded through the streets while the ordeal was recorded and shared online, causing significant reputational and psychological harm.

The legal action contends that the DSS and the AGF failed in their constitutional duties by neglecting to prosecute the alleged perpetrators despite available video evidence. In addition to financial compensation, the suit seeks a formal public apology in national newspapers and a court order compelling a full investigation into the breach of Dr. Obaseki’s rights to dignity and personal liberty.
