Rotary hails railway reforms under NRC’s Opeifa

The Rotary International District 9110 Governor, Lanre Adedoyin, has commended the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) for its ongoing transformation under the leadership of Dr. Kayode Opeifa.
Adedoyin gave the commendation during a facility tour of the NRC headquarters in Ebute Meta, Lagos, by a delegation from the Rotary Club.
According to NRC’s Chief Public Relations Officer, Callistus Unyimadu, the tour was facilitated by the President of the Rotary Club of Lagos Island, Lekan Dupeye. The group visited the Running Shed and the Railway Technical Institute, where Principal Tukur Majus presented the institute’s training programmes in modern vocational skills like welding, carpentry, and photovoltaic systems.
Dupeye praised the NRC’s strides in revamping rail infrastructure and proposed the establishment of a Rotary vocational hub within NRC premises.
In response, Opeifa himself a past President of the Rotary Club of Agege affirmed NRC’s commitment to collaboration, noting that the corporation’s reforms align with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He highlighted efforts to reconnect major rail routes, expand freight services, and support state access to NRC infrastructure.
“If railway dies, Nigeria’s economy will grind to zero,” Opeifa stated. “That is why we are optimising what we have and embracing collaborations that drive growth.”
