Senator Iyiola Omisore, former Deputy Governor of Osun State has officially flagged off his grassroots campaign tour to consult with the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership across local governments, seeking to clinch the party’s governorship ticket for the 2026 elections.

The tour began with visits to Ifedayo and Ila Local Governments, following the release of the APC National leadership’s timetable and guidelines for the upcoming primaries.

At the Ifedayo local government headquarters in Oke Ila Orangun, Omisore’s campaign train stopped at the township town hall for a closed-door meeting with the APC hierarchy.

The meeting featured a critical appraisal of the party’s recent performance. Discussion leaders, including Hon. Folorunso Bamisayemi (a former Commissioner for Education) and Hon. Ajibola Famurewa, both actively rallied the party faithful to secure Senator Omisore’s victory in the primaries.

Hon. Idowu Abiodun, the State Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), was highly assertive in his endorsement. He affirmed that no other aspirant matched Omisore’s pedigree in the race, acknowledging the aspirant’s consistent support for the sustainability of elected council chairmen.

Addressing the crowd at both Oke Ila and Ila Orangun, Senator Omisore formally declared his decision to contest for the party’s ticket.

He noted that his entry into the race followed the voluntary withdrawal of former Governor Gboyega Oyetola from contesting the 2026 ticket.

At the Ila Orangun town hall, Otunba Omisore promised that his emergence as governor would be highly rewarding for both Ifedayo and Ila local governments, committing to genuine infrastructure renewal and job creation for the citizenry.

Describing himself as highly knowledgeable about the challenges facing the state and its people from his three decades in public life, Omisore pledged to establish an inclusive administration that all citizens would be proud of.

He specifically condemned the negative media presence of the current Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) administration, calling the perceived regression unfortunate given the state’s historical image and fame.

Party leaders and elders from both LGAs expressed overwhelming confidence in the aspirant, stating that the former Deputy Governor possessed the necessary capacity, experience, connections, and wherewithal to actualize the difficult task of returning Osun State to the progressive fold in 2026.
