Former Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Ayodele Fayose, has dismissed speculations that he is planning to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), insisting that he remains a loyal member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Fayose made this known on Wednesday while speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, where he clarified that his support for President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election should not be mistaken for membership of the APC.

He explained that his endorsement of Tinubu was based on respect for him as a national leader and as a prominent figure from the South-West, not as a sign of political alignment with the ruling party.

“The PDP’s problem did not start today. I am not a member of the APC and I will never be. I didn’t hide my support for Asiwaju; I consider him a leader in Nigeria and particularly from our zone,” Fayose stated.

The former governor reaffirmed that his loyalty to the PDP remains firm despite internal challenges within the party.
