The Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) also favored continuity, re-electing Chief Yemi Sanusi as State Chairman through voice affirmation by 1,180 delegates at the June 12 Cultural Centre in Abeokuta.

Governor Dapo Abiodun used the occasion to call for a shift away from backroom bargaining, insisting that internal democracy must be genuinely practiced through organizational discipline.

Governor Abiodun reminded the newly elected executives that their roles are strategic, not ceremonial, charging them to reconcile aggrieved members and strengthen the party from the ward level upward.

Chief Sanusi, in his response, pledged to justify the trust placed in him by reinforcing party structures and ensuring fairness and equity for all members.

The synchronized nature of these congresses monitored across the states by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and National Working Committee (NWC) delegations highlights the APC’s strategy to minimize internal friction through the consensus model. By returning leaders and securing early endorsements for the Presidency, the party appears focused on building a stable, united front three years ahead of the next major national contest.

Following the successful conduct of these exercises, the APC National Secretariat issued a formal directive for the immediate swearing-in of all newly elected officials.

Signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the statement mandated that Ward, Local Government, and State Executive Committees elected during the 2026 Congresses be inaugurated today or soon hereafter in accordance with the Party’s Constitution.

The national leadership also expressed gratitude to members and stakeholders for the peaceful conduct of congresses nationwide.
