In Akure, the Ondo State APC opted for peace and consolidation as Hon. Kolawole Babatunde, a former member of the House of Representatives, emerged as the new State Chairman.
Addressing the peaceful gathering at the International Centre for Culture and Events, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa urged the new 36-member State Working Committee to subordinate personal ambitions to the collective interest of the party.
Babatunde, in his acceptance speech titled A New Dawn of Unity and Progress, vowed to end the era of internal divisions. “There is no winner or loser in this exercise,” he declared, promising to energize grassroots structures and elevate women and youth into strategic leadership roles.
Like his counterparts, Governor Aiyedatiwa reaffirmed Ondo State’s alignment with the Renewed Hope agenda of the federal government.
However, party sources who spoke to NewsDirect on condition of anonymity decried the state of the APC in Ondo state.
They decried a politics of marginalisation alleging that all is not well within the Ondo APC.
