The Jigawa State Police Command has recorded significant operational breakthroughs, arresting suspects involved in armed robbery, vandalism, and drug trafficking, while recovering a cache of arms and illicit substances.
The Command, led by CP Dahiru Muhammad, disclosed the achievements in a statement on Thursday, highlighting a series of successful raids and intelligence-led operations across the state.
Among the recoveries listed were a fabricated rifle, cartridges, four motorcycles, five blocks of cannabis, illicit drugs, copper wires, and cash.
In a notable case of advance fee fraud turned robbery, the police arrested two suspects who lured a victim from Kano to Dutse under the guise of a foreign currency exchange.
On December 22, 2025, the 33-year-old victim was attacked at Gamji village, Sundumina district, and robbed of N200,000. Following intelligence gathering, operatives arrested Haruna Sale (30) and Usman Damina Baushe, both of Birnin Kudu LGA.
Police recovered N143,250 of the stolen cash, a Bajaj motorcycle, machetes, and charms. The suspects have been positively identified by the victim.
A tragedy was also recorded in Kirikasamma LGA on Christmas Eve when hoodlums attacked two travelers returning from Hadejia.
The victims, Yusuf Usman and Liman Muh’d, were robbed of their motorcycle and cash. Sadly, Yusuf Usman succumbed to his injuries.
Police operatives combed the surrounding bush and arrested three suspects: Abdullahi Mohd Bulama (32), Yusuf Ahmed (35), and Mamman Manu Garwa (19). The stolen motorcycle was recovered, and the suspects are currently at the SCID Dutse undergoing discreet investigation.
The Police also cracked down on infrastructure vandals in Malam Madori LGA. Acting on a tip-off regarding the vandalism of a transformer at Mai Rakumi Village, operatives arrested Ayuba Idris and Ibrahim Muhammad with quantities of stolen copper wire.
Simultaneously, raids on criminal hideouts in Kaugama, Gumel, Sara, and Hadejia ‘B’ Divisions led to the arrest of multiple drug dealers. Items recovered included a locally made rifle, five blocks of cannabis, 196 Exol tablets, and other dangerous substances including “Suck and Die” liquid.
CP Dahiru Muhammad reassured the people of Jigawa State of the Command’s commitment to combating crime and urged citizens to continue providing timely information to security agencies.
