The Gombe State Government has announced the approval of payment for Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) fees for nearly 24,000 final-year students across the state.
The disclosure was made on Wednesday, following the final plenary session of the Gombe State House of Assembly for the year 2025, which was personally attended by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.
During the valedictory sitting, the State Assembly passed critical legislation aimed at revitalizing the state’s education sector and boosting human capital development.
The approval covers the registration fees for major external examinations (WAEC/NECO) for 23,000 indigent and meritorious students.
This intervention is expected to bring significant financial relief to parents and guardians, particularly against the backdrop of current economic realities.
Governor Yahaya, who witnessed the legislative proceedings, commended the Assembly for their cooperation and swift passage of bills that directly impact the welfare of the citizenry.
He reiterated his administration’s resolve to ensure that no Gombe child is denied the opportunity to complete their basic education due to a lack of funds.
Beyond the exam fees, the Assembly agreed on broader legislative frameworks to support life resources interpreted as Human Capital Development ensuring that the state’s youth are equipped with the necessary skills for the future.
The Governor noted that the collaborative relationship between the Executive and the Legislature in 2025 has been instrumental in delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of Gombe.
As the state transitions into 2026, the government has assured citizens that the implementation of these educational supports will commence immediately to meet the registration deadlines for the upcoming examination cycle.
