Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State in his new year goodwill message has pledged to accelerate economic prosperity in 2026, saying the state would witness more peace and tame hardship among the people.
In a statement by the Governor’s Media Aide, Mukhtar Gidado on Thursday, Mohammed commended Nigerians for their steadfastness and resilience amid economic conditions of last year.
The Governor said that despite economic, political and social challenges, the people of Bauchi State remained resilient, steadfast and prayerful. Mohammed commended the citizens for their patience and perseverance in the face of economic hardship, assuring that his administration would continue to provide palliative support while working towards lasting economic solutions.
He reiterated the commitment of the State Government to vigorously implement the outcomes of the recently held Investment and Economic Summit as part of efforts to accelerate economic growth and social development in Bauchi State.
Mohammed further assured residents that even as his administration approaches the end of its second and final tenure, it remains fully committed to the delivery of key infrastructural and social projects. He highlighted ongoing interventions in road reconstruction, mass housing, urban renewal, education, agriculture, economic empowerment and youth development, stressing that the government will continue to push the frontiers of progress across all sectors.
The Governor emphasised the importance of consultation, stakeholder engagement and community participation in governance, noting that accountability to the people remains a fundamental principle of his administration. He reaffirmed the government’s belief in citizens’ rights to hold leaders accountable and reiterated the commitment to fostering a culture of collective responsibility and mutual care.
On security, Governor Bala Mohammed reassured residents that Bauchi State would not be a safe haven for criminal elements. He pledged continued support to security agencies and called on citizens to cooperate with law enforcement by reporting suspicious activities, stressing that security is a collective responsibility.
“As political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections begin to gather momentum, the Governor appealed to political parties, aspirants and their supporters to conduct themselves peacefully and in accordance with the Electoral Act. He warned that the government will not hesitate to apply the law against any individual or group found engaging in acts capable of breaching public peace.
“The Governor called for sustained prayers, cooperation and understanding from traditional rulers, religious leaders, stakeholders and politicians across party lines to ensure lasting peace, unity and prosperity in Bauchi State and Nigeria as a whole.”
