Gov Yusuf charges Kano appointees on integrity

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has charged political appointees and senior government officials to anchor their service on integrity, stressing that transparency and accountability remain vital for building a just and prosperous future.
The governor gave the charge during a three-day retreat themed “Anti-Corruption, Financial Fraud, Transformational Leadership, and Ethical Values in the Workplace,” jointly organised by ANHI Consultants International and the Kano State Government in Kaduna at the weekend.
In a statement signed by his spokesman, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Governor Yusuf declared:“Every action, decision, and policy must reflect the values of transparency, honesty, and accountability. Together, we must build a legacy of integrity that will not only transform today but also guarantee a just and prosperous future for generations to come.”
The governor warned that corruption directly affects the poor and vulnerable, noting that the people of Kano are losing patience with unfulfilled promises.
“They demand action and results. They want a government that works for them, not one that enriches a few. That was why they voted for us in 2023, and we must not disappoint them,” he added.
Governor Yusuf further reminded participants that the success of government policies depends not only on design but also on the integrity and professionalism of those charged with implementation. He urged appointees to remain courageous and committed to doing the right thing, even in the face of challenges.
The retreat also featured contributions from stakeholders. Dr. Aminu I. Gusau, one of the resource persons, commended the calibre of appointees in the Yusuf administration, describing them as capable of leading Kano to the “promised land.”
Similarly, the Chief of Staff, Dr. Sulaiman Wali Sani, and the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Umar Farooq Ibrahim, praised the governor’s leadership style, stating that his administration had achieved in two years what others could not accomplish in eight.
