Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has presented Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs) to the chairmen of the state’s 20 Local Government Areas, as part of efforts to enhance effective governance and service delivery at the grassroots.

The presentation took place in Abeokuta on Thursday, coinciding with the Christmas celebrations.

Speaking through the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Ganiyu Hamzat, the governor said the gesture was in fulfilment of his administration’s pledge to support local councils and improve their operational capacity.

He commended the chairmen for their roles in bringing development closer to the people and reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to sustained collaboration with local authorities.
According to the governor, strengthening local governments remains critical to improving the welfare and quality of life of residents across Ogun State.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, the Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Ogun State chapter, Dr. (Mrs.) Afolasade Adeyemo, expressed gratitude to the governor, describing the presentation as a demonstration of his support for grassroots development.

Adeyemo, who is also the Chairman of Odeda Local Government, praised Governor Abiodun’s achievements in key sectors including education, housing, healthcare, and road infrastructure.

She noted that the administration’s ISEYA development agenda has continued to reposition Ogun State for growth and progress.

She assured that the Local Government Chairmen would remain committed to partnering with the state government to deliver quality governance and make Ogun State a model of development.

The chairmen stated that the vehicles would significantly enhance their ability to reach rural communities and respond promptly to the needs of residents at the grassroots level.
