Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has called on Christians in the state and across Nigeria to embrace unity, tolerance and peaceful coexistence as they celebrate Christmas and prepare for the New Year
He stressed that national development can only thrive in an atmosphere of mutual respect across religious and ethnic lines.
The governor made the call in a Christmas goodwill message to Christians, emphasising that the season offers a powerful reminder of the enduring values of love, sacrifice and compassion preached by Jesus Christ.
In a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, on December 24, 2025, Governor Radda said Christmas remains a critical period for deep reflection and recommitment to values that strengthen national unity and social harmony.
The statement reads partly: “As we celebrate this joyous season, I call on all Christians to embrace the spirit of love and tolerance that Christ exemplified throughout his earthly ministry.
Christmas is a significant period for Christians to renew their commitment to the values that promote peaceful coexistence and national unity.
“Unity among Nigerians, regardless of religious or ethnic differences, remains critical to building a safer, more prosperous Katsina State and Nigeria.
When we stand together in unity, we become stronger and more capable of overcoming the challenges facing our state and nation.”
Governor Radda stressed that sustained collaboration between Christians, Muslims and adherents of other faiths is indispensable to peace, security and development in Katsina State, noting that religious tolerance and mutual respect are foundational pillars of progress.
He urged residents to rise above divisive tendencies and work collectively to address security and socio-economic challenges confronting the state and the country at large.
The governor also called on Christians to use the Christmas season as a period of prayer for peace, security and prosperity in Katsina State and Nigeria, underscoring the need for both divine intervention and collective human effort to achieve lasting stability.
Governor Radda assured Christians in Katsina State of his administration’s unwavering commitment to the protection of their rights and safety, pledging to sustain an enabling environment where citizens can freely practise their faith without fear or discrimination.
He reaffirmed that his government remains committed to inclusive governance that guarantees equal opportunities and protection for all residents, irrespective of religious affiliation.
