The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has stated that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has effectively invalidated the leadership claims of the Governor Seyi Makinde and Kabiru Turaki-led group.

In a Christmas and New Year goodwill message released on Wednesday by the faction’s National Caretaker Working Committee (NCWC), the group argued that INEC’s refusal to recognize the outcome of the Oyo State convention exposes the illegitimacy of the rival faction.

The statement, signed by the NCWC National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Mohammed, urged party faithful to use the festive season for sober reflection.

It emphasized that the future of the PDP relies on honesty, lawful conduct, and genuine unity rather than factional ambition.

Reaffirming its allegiance to the Abdulrahman Mohammed-led caretaker structure, the committee stated it remains focused on rebuilding the party’s credibility and restoring internal discipline.

The group dismissed the Turaki-led faction’s claims of securing INEC recognition as misleading narratives that have now been contradicted by the electoral body’s official stance.

The statement also criticized recent media comments by Governor Makinde, describing them as distortions of key facts that lack an understanding of the constitutional and legal implications of the ongoing crisis.

The faction warned members against being swayed by manufactured narratives and reiterated its commitment to constitutional order and obedience to court rulings.
