The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy and leader of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State, Adegboyega Oyetola, has stated that endorsing President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid for a second term in office is critical in ensuring continuity of developmental projects and full stabilisation of the economy.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser, Dr Bolaji Akinola, on Sunday, the Minister provided insight into the party’s decision to throw its full weight behind President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid for a second term in office.
This clarification follows the formal endorsement of the President by the Osun state chapter of the party during a high-profile political gathering.
The endorsement took place at a grand reception held at Freedom Park in Osogbo, where a massive crowd of party stalwarts and supporters gathered to affirm their loyalty to the President’s leadership.
Oyetola, who led the proceedings, emphasized that the decision was rooted in the party’s belief in the President’s vision for the country and the progress recorded under his administration.
The event served a dual purpose, functioning both as a political rally for the 2027 cycle and as a welcoming ceremony for significant new members.
Five federal lawmakers, along with a substantial number of their supporters, officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to join the APC, further bolstering the party’s ranks in the state.
Oyetola noted that the influx of high-profile defectors is a testament to the growing confidence in the APC’s direction under President Tinubu.
The Osun APC leader further described Tinubu as a seasoned administrator with a proven track record of transformative leadership, recalling his achievements in Lagos State and his longstanding commitment to progressive politics in Nigeria. He added that the President understands the complexity of governing a diverse nation and has shown the political will to take tough decisions in the national interest.
Oyetola stressed that continuity is crucial at this stage of Nigeria’s development, stating that a second term would allow the President to consolidate ongoing reforms, complete major infrastructure projects, and fully stabilise the economy.
“President Tinubu has demonstrated courage, capacity, and commitment to reposition Nigeria. What he needs now is time to complete the good job he has started,” Oyetola said, assuring that all members of the APC in Osun are fully aligned behind the President’s re-election bid.
