The Nigeria Police Force has transitioned to a state of heightened vigilance across the federation as a preemptive measure against potential domestic fallout from escalating geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.

Acting Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, issued a comprehensive security mandate from Force Headquarters in Abuja, aimed at ensuring that global frictions do not manifest as local unrest or sectarian division within Nigerian borders.

While the police high command maintains that the nation’s internal security remains stable and firmly under control, the Ag. IGP has directed all Commissioners of Police across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory to implement proactive, intelligence-led policing strategies.

This directive places particular strategic emphasis on the North West, North East, and North Central zones, where surveillance and data-gathering efforts are being scaled up to identify and neutralize potential flashpoints before they escalate.

A central component of this security posture involves increased visibility policing, with a surge of uniformed officers deployed to safeguard public spaces and places of worship.

The Force is also intensifying its collaboration with traditional and religious leaders to reinforce communal harmony and ensure a unified front against any attempt to import external ideological grievances.

The Nigeria Police Force has been remarkably blunt regarding its stance on foreign influence, stating unequivocally that the country will not serve as a theatre for foreign conflicts.

Authorities warned that any individuals or organized groups attempting to exploit international developments to incite domestic tension will be met with the full weight of the law.

As these reinforced measures take effect, Ag. IGP Disu has called on community leaders nationwide to continue their roles as advocates for peace.

He further urged the Nigerian public to remain calm, vigilant, and law-abiding, requesting that any suspicious activities or inflammatory gatherings be reported immediately to the nearest police formation to ensure continued national stability.
