Former Director-General of the Voice of Nigeria (VON) and founding member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Osita Okechukwu, says Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah is free and welcome to join the ruling party.
In a statement issued on behalf of APC foundation members in Enugu State and the South-East, Okechukwu dismissed comments attributed to the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, suggesting restrictions on Mbah’s entry into the party.
Okechukwu argued that Mbah’s performance as governor should be embraced, not rejected, stressing that his inclusion could help the APC win control of Enugu’s Government House for the first time and strengthen President Bola Tinubu’s re-election prospects in 2027.
He criticised Nnaji’s stance, urging him to focus on his ministerial duties, and reminded him of his poor electoral performance in the 2023 governorship and presidential polls.
