Former House of Representatives member, Hon. Oghene Egoh, has taken a swipe at former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, for describing the Federal Government’s Lagos–Calabar coastal road project as fraudulent.

Amaechi, a former presidential aspirant, had reportedly vowed to terminate the project if he became president. But Egoh, who defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2024 after representing Amuwo-Odofin Federal Constituency under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said Amaechi lacked the moral authority to condemn it.

According to Egoh, Amaechi neglected key infrastructure in the Niger Delta during his tenure, focusing instead on building a railway to Niger Republic. He described the coastal road as a transformational initiative that would boost trade, strengthen inter-state relations, and drive economic growth across the South-South and Lagos State.

He added that the project would create jobs, improve transport links, and foster national integration. Egoh also praised President Bola Tinubu’s policies, including fuel subsidy removal, saying the reforms would deliver long-term benefits despite current economic hardships.

“Hunger in the land is temporary. We are already seeing a drop in the prices of rice and tomatoes, and other commodities will follow,” he said, noting that government support for farmers would help ensure food security and reduce reliance on imports.

Egoh urged Nigerians to remain patient and back the administration’s reforms, insisting that Tinubu was achieving what past governments could not.
