Co-convener of the BringBackOurGirls Movement, Aisha Yesufu, has announced that she will become a card-carrying member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

She cited her solidarity with former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, following his recent defection to the party.

Yesufu made the declaration on Wednesday in Enugu during an event marking Obi’s official induction into the ADC.

Speaking passionately, she urged Nigerians, especially opposition leaders and well-meaning citizens, to unite ahead of the 2027 general elections, emphasizing the need for collective action to rescue the nation from its current crises.

Yesufu said: “I have never been a card-carrying member of any political party, but I will be a card-carrying member of the ADC. Enough is enough. There is no more time for tears. We have cried too much. From this moment onward, we will fight for Nigeria. We will build a great nation.”

Highlighting the ADC as a platform for inclusive opportunity, Yesufu added, “ADC will take Nigeria to a point where the son of a nobody can become somebody without knowing anybody.”
