The All Progressives Congress (APC) has commenced a statewide training programme for agents and coordinators to drive its electronic membership registration in Zamfara State.
The exercise was launched on Tuesday in Gusau as part of efforts to strengthen the party’s membership database and deepen internal democracy through digital innovation.
Speaking at the event, the APC Publicity Secretary in the state and Coordinator of the exercise, Alhaji Yusuf Idris, said the one-day capacity-building training was critical to the party’s growth, credibility and future planning.
Idris said the e-membership initiative aligned with the long-standing vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that the programme reflected the digital reforms consistently advocated by the party leader.
According to him, the registration exercise was of strategic importance not only to the APC but also to President Tinubu, who serves as the party’s national leader.
“This exercise is very important for our party and for the leader of our party, the president,” Idris said, stressing the need for members to fully understand its significance and challenges.
He disclosed that 294 agents had been deployed to work directly with party members at the grassroots, while 14 local government supervisors would oversee the smooth conduct of the exercise across their respective councils.
Idris added that the structure also included three senatorial administrators and a state coordinating administrative officer to supervise the entire process.
He explained that the e-registration was designed to produce a credible and accurate membership database, in line with the APC’s commitment to transparency, digital transformation and inclusive participation.
“The e-registration will provide equal opportunities for members to participate fully in party activities, including contesting for elective positions or aspiring to leadership roles at ward, local government, state or national levels,” he said.
Idris warned that participation in party processes would be impossible without e-registration, urging members to mobilise their supporters to register en masse.
He also said the initiative would promote unity within the party and enhance the credibility of future APC congresses at both state and national levels.
The APC spokesperson commended party leaders in the state for their support, particularly the Minister of State for Defence, Dr Bello Matawalle; Senator Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara West; and the state party chairman, Alhaji Tukur Danfulani.
The training exercise, which commenced in Zamfara Central Senatorial District, is scheduled to continue in Zamfara West on Wednesday and conclude in Kaura Namoda, Zamfara North.
