The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kaduna State has denied claims circulating on social media that it is preparing to inaugurate a new state secretariat.
The party described the report as false and unauthorised, urging members of the public to disregard the announcement.
In a statement issued on Tuesday in Kaduna, the ADC State Publicity Secretary, Mr Alex Tagwai, said neither the party’s state leadership nor its national headquarters approved or authorised any secretariat inauguration.
According to him, the viral announcement did not originate from the party and was allegedly circulated by individuals he described as impostors bent on causing confusion within the party.
Tagwai said: “Neither the State Executive Committee nor the State Working Committee has set up any Local Organising Committee for such an event.
“The ADC National Secretariat has also confirmed that it has no knowledge of any planned inauguration.”
He stressed that no date or arrangement had been fixed for the commissioning of the party’s state secretariat and warned members against associating with unverified information.
Tagwai accused those behind the report of attempting to heat up the political atmosphere in the state, saying such actions were contrary to the values and principles of the ADC.
“Those behind this announcement are only out to cause confusion and unnecessary tension, which the party will not tolerate,” he added.
However, the party confirmed that it had secured a property at Unguwar Kanawa, near the NDA Junction along the Zaria–Kaduna Road, to serve as its state secretariat.
Tagwai explained that the official inauguration would be announced at a later date, after receiving approval from the party’s national leadership.
He appealed to party members to remain calm, law-abiding and committed to peaceful political engagement in the state.
“The party will duly communicate all details to the public once approval is granted by the national leadership,” he said.
