Yusuf Buhari declares interest in House of Reps seat

Yusuf Buhari, the son of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, has formally declared his intention to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives.

The Late Former President’s son is seeking to represent the Sandamu/Daura/Mai’Adua Federal Constituency in Katsina State with plans to run on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The development was disclosed in a statement shared on X by Bashir Ahmad, who revealed that the decision followed extensive consultations with key stakeholders across the constituency.

“Following wide consultations, Yusuf Buhari, the son of our late boss, President Muhammadu Buhari, has informed stakeholders of his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat for the Sandamu/Daura/Mai’Adua constituency under the All Progressives Congress,” Ahmad wrote.

A letter dated April 3, personally signed by Yusuf, also confirmed his political ambition.

“With all respect, I am extremely delighted to write and inform you of my intention to contest for the seat of House of Representatives for the Sandamu/Daura/Mai’Adua constituency, under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).”

“After wide consultation, I wish to contest as my contribution to ensure good and qualitative leadership. Your support will help my ambition to succeed in bringing infrastructural development as well as human capital support and development to the people of this constituency,” the letter read.

Yusuf Buhari’s declaration marks his first major foray into active partisan politics, signaling a transition from private life into the public political arena and potentially extending the political legacy of the Buhari family.
