Former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido, has said he may leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) if the party fails to resolve its ongoing internal crisis.

Lamido made this known during an interview with the BBC Hausa Service on Tuesday in Kaduna, where he expressed frustration over what he described as growing divisions and deliberate attempts to weaken the party.

The elder statesman said if the situation continues without a clear solution, he would be left with no choice but to take a decision that is in his personal and political interest, including aligning with another political party.

“If we cannot find solutions to the problems facing the PDP, I will have no option but to look elsewhere,” Lamido said.

He accused some individuals within the party of working against its unity, describing their actions as calculated efforts to destroy the PDP from within.

Lamido lamented that the party leadership has failed to act decisively to address the deepening crisis, warning that continued inaction could further damage the PDP’s future.

According to him, the PDP, which once served as a strong unifying platform for Nigerians, is now plagued by internal conflicts that have left many loyal members frustrated and disillusioned.

He warned that persistent infighting could weaken the party ahead of future elections, stressing the need for urgent steps to restore unity, discipline and direction.
