Voter faints at Osun polling unit

A voter reportedly fainted during the ongoing Osun State governorship election at Are-Ago, St. Charles School, Unit 7, Ward 8, throwing other voters into confusion.

The incident occurred as voters gathered at the polling unit to exercise their civic rights. According to eyewitnesses, the voter suddenly fell to the ground and began shaking, with foam reportedly coming from his mouth.

People at the scene quickly rushed to assist the victim as others called for help.

An eyewitness said, “He just fell down and started shaking. We saw foam coming from his mouth and everybody became worried.”

The situation prompted officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at the polling unit to seek medical assistance. The INEC officials reportedly contacted members of the Red Cross to come to the scene and attend to the victim.

“We had to call the Red Cross because the situation was serious and he needed immediate attention,” a source at the polling unit said.

The incident briefly attracted the attention of voters, with several people moving towards the area where the victim was being attended to.

However, members of the press who attempted to document the incident were aggressively stopped by some voters at the polling unit.

Some voters insisted that no photographs or videos should be taken, apparently out of concern for the privacy and dignity of the affected voter.

“Please, don’t record him. Let them help him first,” one of the voters was heard saying.

The situation was eventually brought under control as efforts were made to get medical attention for the victim. The cause of the voter’s collapse was not immediately known as of the time of filing this report.

The incident did not immediately disrupt voting activities at the polling unit, as other voters continued to wait to cast their ballots.
