Osundecides: Minor disagreement averted at Osogbo polling unit

A minor disagreement broke out at Owode Village II, Ward 8, Polling Unit 09, Ilesha Garage, Osogbo, during the ongoing Osun State governorship election.

The incident reportedly began when a party agent attempted to assist a voter in folding her ballot paper after she voted. Party agents had previously been instructed not to approach the voting booth during the exercise.

The action reportedly angered other party agents, who raised concerns that the agent was violating the official guidelines governing the poll.

The disagreement briefly created tension at the polling unit as the agents exchanged words over the incident.

According to an eyewitness, “One of the party agents tried helping someone fold her ballot, but they had already been instructed not to go near the polling booth. The other agents got angry, and that caused a small commotion.”

Another individual at the polling unit stated that the situation was short-lived, as the police officer present quickly intervened to prevent the dispute from escalating.

“It was just a minor disagreement. The police officer stepped in and settled everything,” the individual said.

The police officer reportedly appealed to the party agents to remain calm and adhere to the guidelines at the polling unit, after which normalcy was restored.

The agents involved eventually settled the matter, allowing voting to continue without further disruption.

The incident highlights the importance of party agents and other stakeholders adhering to electoral guidelines throughout the voting process to prevent unnecessary conflict.

As of the time of filing this report, the atmosphere at Owode Village II Polling Unit 09 had returned to normal, with voters continuing to cast their ballots peacefully.
