Osun poll: FRSC deploys personnel from Ondo, Ekiti, Oyo, Ogun

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has deployed 2,500 personnel and 50 operational vehicles to Osun State ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.

According to a statement signed by FRSC Deputy Corps Commander and Corps Public Education Officer, Osondu Ohaeri, on Friday, the deployment, which covers the three senatorial districts and all operational areas in the state.

Ohaeri said that deployment aimed at ensuring effective traffic management, emergency response, clearance of road obstructions and enforcement of the restriction of movement during the election.

The Corps noted that the deployment comprises 2,300 personnel from the Osun Sector Command and 50 personnel each from the Ondo, Ekiti, Oyo and Ogun sector commands.

The operational vehicles include seven heavy-duty tow trucks and six ambulances, which have been positioned at strategic locations to facilitate rescue operations and emergency response.

The Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, said the deployment was part of the agency’s efforts to support a peaceful, safe and credible electoral process within its statutory mandate.

Mohammed said, “Our mandate is clear: to ensure that the roads remain safe, orderly and accessible within the framework of the electoral security arrangements. We will be firm, professional and impartial in the discharge of our responsibilities.

“Strict professionalism, neutrality, discipline and respect for human rights,” while working with the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security and other relevant agencies.

Vehicles earmarked for enforcement of the restriction will commence deployment from 0600HRS on Saturday, 15 August 2026, with personnel positioned at strategic locations across the state
