The Anambra State Police Command has arrested two suspects linked to the abduction and brutal murder of a female bank manager in Onitsha, months after collecting a ₦14 million ransom from her family.

Police spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed the arrests in a statement issued on Sunday, June 1, 2025, in Onitsha.

The suspects, Monday Egbe (32) and Kenneth Nnoga (28), were traced to a criminal hideout in a neighboring state and apprehended on May 28 during a targeted operation by police operatives.

According to Ikenga, the victim was abducted and later found dead on January 13 along Nnobi Road, with her eyes tied and lifeless body abandoned, despite the family having paid the demanded ₦14 million ransom.

“This unfortunate incident happened on Jan. 13th, when the lifeless body of the victim was found along Nnobi Road with her eyes tied after the abductors had collected the ransom of ₦14 million from the deceased family,” Ikenga stated.

He confirmed that the suspects are undergoing intensive interrogation as police pursue other members of the criminal gang.

The Commissioner of Police in Anambra, CP Ikioye Orutugu, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to delivering justice and safeguarding residents across the state.

He urged the public to remain vigilant and committed to seeing criminal cases through to a conclusive end.
