…vows to shift into gear four if re-elected

As the November 2025 Anambra governorship election gathers momentum, Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has declared that no opposition party can match his administration’s achievements in education, infrastructure, and security.
Speaking during a media chat with journalists in Awka, the state capital, Soludo said the people of Anambra have felt the impact of his government and would not be swayed by what he described as “empty opposition noise.”
“Come November 8, no opposition comes close to us,” the governor declared. “The people of Anambra know what they want. They have felt the impact of this administration, and they will stand by progress. Most of those calling themselves opponents are supporters in disguise. All progressives are working together to re elect a progressive.”
Reaffirming education as the centerpiece of his development agenda, Soludo said his administration made an intentional decision to “rescue and revamp the public school system” and restore quality learning across all levels.
“The interest of the Anambra child is to be taught by the best teacher in the world, not by an incompetent one from his village,” the governor stated, emphasizing that teacher recruitment and placement in the state are now strictly merit based.
According to him, massive investments have gone into training teachers, introducing digital learning tools, and rebuilding public schools to make education accessible and competitive.
On infrastructure, Soludo said his government has struck a balance between development and economic stability despite limited resources.
“Even with lean finances, we are making good roads, clamping down on insecurity, and maintaining one of the lowest tax regimes in Nigeria,” he said. “That’s what responsible governance looks like development without overburdening the people.”
He explained that the government has continued to construct major road networks linking rural and urban communities to boost trade, ease movement, and strengthen local economies.
On security, Soludo noted that his administration has continued to work closely with community leaders and security agencies to ensure peace in every part of the state.
“Our approach to security is proactive and people centered,” he said. “We are building structures that prevent crime rather than waiting to react to it.”
Soludo used the media engagement to project his plans for a second term, saying that if re elected, his administration would “move into gear four” a phrase he used to describe an accelerated phase of economic expansion, industrialization, and digital innovation.
“If re elected, we are moving faster. Gear four means greater efficiency, bigger projects, and more opportunities for our people,” he said.
He also revealed that his administration would domesticate the Federal Government’s certificate verification framework to curb forgery and ensure transparency in the state’s recruitment process.
“Our vision is to sustain the reforms we’ve started and create a smarter, more prosperous Anambra,” Soludo concluded.
