Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has urged voters in Anambra State to support the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the forthcoming November 8 governorship election, describing it as a crucial opportunity to end years of misrule and poor governance.

In a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Atiku said the election presents the people of Anambra with a chance to “open a new chapter” and resist the All Progressives Congress (APC), which he accused of “snatching and running away with the people’s mandate.”

“The election to elect the next governor of Anambra State on November 8 offers a unique opportunity to end the era of poor governance in the state in addition to ensuring that the ruling All Progressives Congress does not get the chance of practising its notoriety of snatching and running away with the mandate of the people,” Atiku said.

The former presidential candidate urged residents to rally around Nwosu Chima John and Nwobu Geoffrey Ndubisi, the ADC candidates, saying their emergence would mark a new era of prosperity and economic stability for the state.

He also charged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), led by Prof. Joash Amupitan (SAN), to demonstrate impartiality and protect the integrity of the electoral process.

“The election is also an opportunity for the electoral umpire to prove to the world that it has turned a new page, and that the integrity of our election would not be sacrificed for the satisfaction of the ruling party,” Atiku added.

Calling on registered voters to turn out en masse, Atiku appealed to Ndi Anambra to seize the moment to shape a new political direction for Nigeria.

“Anambra is a place with so many good histories about our great country. I believe that yet again, Ndi Anambra will open the chapter of a new beginning where the African Democratic Congress (ADC) would bring lasting prosperity, peace and stability to our country,” he said.
