Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening justice delivery and advancing judicial reforms in the state.
The Governor, represented by his wife, Dr Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, made the pledge during the 2025/2026 New Legal Year Thanksgiving Service held at the Cathedral Church of Christ, Marina, Lagos.
In his goodwill message, Governor Sanwo-Olu commended the judiciary for its resilience, dedication, and reforms that had improved access to justice.
He highlighted the introduction of practice directions on non-custodial sentencing and the adoption of digital court processes as major milestones.
The governor congratulated the Chief Judge of Lagos State, Justice Kazeem Alogba, for successfully steering the judiciary through the past legal year, and he praised judges, magistrates, and members of the bar for their service to the state.
He further disclosed that his government had invested in judicial infrastructure, including the construction of a new court at Tapa, Lagos Island, and the provision of residential apartments for magistrates and legal officers to improve their welfare.
“These reforms and investments will further strengthen the administration of justice, boost public confidence, and promote Lagos as a hub for commerce and innovation,” Sanwo-Olu stated.
The thanksgiving service was attended by bishops, clergy, traditional rulers, and members of the bar and bench. The governor also extended his best wishes to the judiciary for progress, integrity, and meaningful service in the new legal year.
