Residents and commuters across Kogi State have commended Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for delivering critical infrastructure projects, particularly township roads and erosion control initiatives, in all 21 local government areas of the state.
This was contained in a statement signed by Adegboyega Segun, Information Officer, Ministry of Information and Communications.
It reads partly: “In fulfilment of his campaign promises and his unwavering commitment to the well-being of the people, the Chief Servant of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has approved, mobilised, and completed over 10 kilometres of township roads in each of the 21 local government areas of the state.”
During a tour of ongoing projects with journalists in Mopa town, Mopamuro Local Government Area, the Commissioner for Works, Hon. Engr. Muhammed Avohi Yusuf explained that the Governor had directed the Kogi State Roads Maintenance Agency (KOGROMA) to deliver not less than 10 kilometres of township roads in every local government.
Engr. Yusuf reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to infrastructure development across the state. He noted that the 10km road project in Yagba West had been completed, while similar projects were ongoing in Mopamuro and Yagba East LGAs.
“We are here to showcase what His Excellency is doing in terms of road infrastructure. In Mopa town, we are constructing 10 kilometres of township roads. Already, four kilometres of asphalt have been laid, and the earthwork for the entire stretch has been completed. Once the rains are over, the remaining six kilometres will be fully asphalted,’ Yusuf assured.”
The Commissioner for Information and Communications, Hon. Kingsley Femi Fanwo, noted that the Ododo administration is deliberately decentralising development to reach rural communities, adding that such interventions were previously concentrated in urban areas. He appealed to citizens to safeguard the projects against vandalism to ensure long-term sustainability.
In Kabba, the commissioners also inspected a newly completed erosion control project that has successfully protected the town from perennial flooding.
Residents across the senatorial district expressed gratitude for the Governor’s initiatives. Mr. Daniel Tope of Ileteju, Mopamuro, praised the reconstruction of a long-abandoned road and collapsed bridge linking his community to others.
Mr. Adebosin Bolanle from Mopa highlighted improved market access for local farmers, while Mr. Ojo Sunday Martins of Kabba described the gully erosion control project as a life-saving intervention.
Residents affirmed that Governor Ododo’s projects are transforming lives and strengthening public confidence in his administration.
