Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda has reasserted Katsina State’s pivotal role in Nigeria’s democratic landscape, convening a high-level consultative meeting of All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders to strengthen party structures and reaffirm total support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
Addressing a diverse assembly of party elders, political appointees, and grassroots leaders from all 34 Local Government Areas, Governor Radda characterized the gathering as a vital platform for political sustainability.
He noted that the state’s historic pattern of supporting national leaders from former President Olusegun Obasanjo to the smooth transition between Muhammadu Buhari and Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains a cornerstone of its political identity.
The Governor emphasized that continued cooperation is essential to maintaining the flow of federal support and development currently benefiting the state.
A significant portion of the summit focused on internal party mechanics. Governor Radda directed all political appointees to return to their respective polling units and wards to intensify grassroots mobilization.
Central to this effort is the ongoing APC e-registration exercise; the Governor, who personally participated in the registration in his ward, urged leaders to treat the digital census with utmost priority to ensure an organized party base.
To ensure governance remains transparent and effective, the Governor announced the formation of specialized committees. These bodies are tasked with reviewing party activities, monitoring the “Yan Tara” grassroots structures, and conducting a comprehensive assessment of projects executed by state, local, and federal authorities across the region.
During the session, Deputy Governor Malam Faruk Lawal presented an exhaustive report detailing the administration’s progress over the last two and a half years.
He noted that the Renewed Hope agenda has permeated all 361 wards in the state. Education remains a primary pillar, evidenced by the recruitment of 7,325 teachers and the implementation of AGILE projects.
The administration’s commitment to the agrarian economy was highlighted by a ₦70 billion investment in agriculture, which facilitated the establishment of mechanization centers across all LGAs and the widespread distribution of essential farm inputs.
The Deputy Governor also reported significant strides in infrastructure and security, citing over ₦3.5 billion spent on street lighting including a transition to solar power and an 11-month period largely free of major security incidents thanks to the Community Watch Corps and strategic road improvements.
The meeting served as a rare display of political synergy, featuring remarks from prominent figures including APC State Chairman Hon. Sani JB Daura and Chief of Staff Alhaji Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir. Former Governor Hon. Aminu Bello Masari added weight to the proceedings by inaugurating 34 Local Government Renewed Hope Ambassadors’ Coordinators, an initiative designed to bridge the gap between federal policies and community-level implementation.
The event saw a broad spectrum of Katsina’s political elite in attendance, including former Governor Ibrahim Shehu Shema, Speaker of the House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Nasiru Yahaya Daura, and various members of the National Assembly. Representing the grassroots, Alhaji Salisu Mamman pledged the unwavering support of the 34 LGAs, specifically committing to providing technological resources like routers to ensure the success of the party’s digital registration drive.
The summit concluded with a unified call for peace and continued prayer for leadership, as the state prepares for a planned formal endorsement of President Tinubu’s administration.
