Oyo APC Gubernatorial aspirants pledge unity, deliberate on consensus

Gubernatorial hopefuls under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State have pledged to maintain committed to a unified front ahead of the the 2027 general elections.

The aspirants made this declaration on Tuesday during a consultative meeting held in Ibadan.

The gathering was hosted by the former First Lady of Oyo State, Mrs. Florence Ajimobi, at the instance of party stakeholders seeking to bridge internal gaps well ahead of the next election cycle.

The meeting featured notable top contenders, including the Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu; the Senator representing Oyo South, Sharafadeen Alli; and the Senator for Oyo North, Dr. Abdulfatai Buhari.

Also in attendance were the former Senate Leader, Senator Teslim Folarin, alongside Aderemi Oseni and Barrister Akeem Agbaje.

Sources familiar with the meeting disclosed that the primary focus was on fostering a collaborative atmosphere to avoid the fractionalization that has hampered the party in previous polls.

The stakeholders also deliberated on the necessity of a consensus-building mechanism. Rather than a fragmented primary process, the aspirants and party chieftains resolved to prioritize the interests of the APC to ensure a formidable challenge to the PDP's incumbency.

A source at the meeting informed newsmen that the stakeholders pledged to work in harmony, with a focus on dislodging the PDP by aligning behind a common goal.

Mrs. Ajimobi, acting as a unifying figure, reportedly urged the aspirants to maintain the legacy of excellence and discipline within the party.

The resolution reached on Tuesday marks the beginning of a series of engagements aimed at solidifying the party's structure in Oyo State before the official commencement of the 2027 campaign season.
