…Announces Aug dates for fresh voter registration, warns against multiple entries

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has disclosed that 101,995 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) remain uncollected in Plateau State despite repeated appeals to eligible voters.

Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Plateau, Alhaji Mohammed Sadiq, made this known during a press briefing on Thursday in Jos.

He explained that Plateau has 2,789,528 registered voters, out of which 2,687,533 PVCs have been collected as of 2023, representing 96.3 per cent, leaving 101,995 still awaiting collection.

Sadiq also announced the start of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise. Online pre-registration will open on August 18, followed by in-person registration from August 25, running daily between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

He advised prospective registrants to begin the process at www.crv.inecnigeria.org, stating that the exercise will cover new voters who have just turned 18, as well as those seeking PVC transfers, replacements, or corrections.

INEC further cautioned against multiple registrations, reiterating that every Nigerian is entitled to a single vote and offenders will face sanctions in line with electoral law.
