NSCDC appeals for Calm at Owode polling unit

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has intervened at Owode Village II, Ward 8, Polling Unit 09, Ilesha Garage, Osogbo, following reports of tension and disturbances at the polling unit.

The development followed concerns raised over a growing crowd and mounting frustration among voters at the polling centre.

Upon arrival, NDCDC officials appealed to voters to remain calm and patient, assuring them that everyone would be attended to and given the opportunity to vote.

Addressing the crowd, officials urged voters not to panic, saying, “Everyone will be attended to. Please stay calm and allow the process to continue.”

The intervention aimed to prevent the situation from escalating and ensure that voters could exercise their civic rights peacefully.

Earlier, several voters had expressed frustration over conditions at the polling unit, particularly regarding the limited voting facilities available for the large number of registered voters.

NDCDC officials also provided their contact details to members of the press, urging journalists to reach out whenever an issue required attention.

“We are here to ensure that the situation remains calm. If there is any issue, please reach out to us,” an NDCDC official told journalists.

The officials continued to appeal for patience as voting proceeded at the polling unit.

Their presence helped de-escalate tensions, encouraging voters to remain orderly so electoral officials could carry out their duties.

The NDCDC further emphasized the importance of maintaining peace throughout the electoral process, urging voters to avoid any actions that could disrupt proceedings or create unnecessary conflict.
