Osun ALGON Chairman accusses NULGE of deliberate plot to delay Workers salaries

By Ismail Azeez, Osogbo

The Osun state Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) has accused leaders of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) in Osun State of deliberately withholding payment vouchers to frustrate payment of workers salaries in the state.

Hon. Samuel Abiodun, the Osun ALGON Chairman, issued a stern directive to NULGE to release all salary and pension schedules immediately to prevent further unnecessary pain for workers in a statement on Sunday.

Abiodun alleged that senior council workers are holding clandestine meetings to take directives from NULGE and the state government rather than their direct employers, the Council Chairmen.

While the chairmen claim they have already successfully paid traditional rulers, they insist that the recalcitrant attitude of senior staff is the only barrier to settling the wider workforce's entitlements.

The forum assured the public that once the vouchers are provided, all payments for primary school teachers, health workers, and pensioners will be approved and released without delay.
