Sanwo-Olu unveils Phase 1 report for Lagos International Financial Centre

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has officially transitioned the Lagos International Financial Centre (LIFC) from a bold vision into a structured reality with the launch of the project’s Phase 1 Report at Lagos House, Marina.
The Governor was joined by leadership from EnterpriseNGR and members of the LIFC Council to present the strategic document, which outlines the roadmap for establishing a world-class financial hub in Nigeria’s commercial nerve center.
The report is the culmination of two years of steady policy work, technical analysis, and international collaboration aimed at strengthening domestic markets and fostering innovation.
The Phase 1 Report details how the center will support broader economic growth across Nigeria by creating a credible, institutionalized environment for financial services.
Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized that the project has been meticulously designed to be institutional rather than personal ensuring that the reforms and infrastructure created can endure beyond the lifespan of any single administration.
"Building a credible financial centre requires discipline, strong institutions, and trusted partners," the Governor stated.
He acknowledged the technical expertise and support provided by EnterpriseNGR, the UK Government, and TheCityUK, noting that these partnerships have been instrumental in grounding the project in international best practices during its early stages.
With the foundational report now complete, the state government is shifting its focus toward execution. The next phase will involve deep-seated reforms to create a financial system that serves the modern needs of Nigeria while attracting global investment.
Governor Sanwo-Olu reiterated that the impact of the LIFC extends far beyond the borders of Lagos State.
He described the initiative as a national asset intended to shape a more efficient and resilient financial system for the entire country, today and for the future.
The launch marks a significant milestone in the Sanwo-Olu administration’s T.H.E.M.E.S+ agenda, specifically targeting economic diversification and the positioning of Lagos as a premier destination for global finance in Africa.
