The Ogun State Environmental Protection Agency (OGEPA) has sealed an automobile assembly plant for allegedly engaging in illegal waste burning.

The agency warned that the facility will remain shut until it fully complies with the state’s environmental laws.

According to the agency, the company must immediately cease the open burning of refuse and register with an approved Waste Private Sector Participant (PSP) for lawful disposal or face stricter sanctions.

OGEPA also sanctioned Camellin Industry Limited, located along the Sagamu Interchange axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, for similar environmental violations.

Commenting on the enforcement, OGEPA official Akintunde stated that the company was found culpable of indiscriminate waste burning, a practice he described as hazardous to the health of both workers and nearby residents.

The company’s management has been summoned by the agency as part of ongoing efforts to ensure industrial compliance with state environmental regulations.
