NSCDC commandant vows tougher action against criminals.

The newly deployed substantive Commandant of the Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Commandant Abbas Nda Mohammed, has assured residents of the state of stronger security operations, enhanced intelligence gathering, and decisive action against criminal activities.
Speaking during a media briefing in Ilorin, Mohammed the 16th Commandant of the command expressed appreciation to journalists and stakeholders for their continued support in promoting public awareness and accountability in security matters.
He noted that his assumption of duty as the new helmsman of the command comes with a deep sense of responsibility and commitment to protecting lives and critical national assets across Kwara State.
“I have assumed duty as the 16th substantive Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Kwara State Command, and I consider it a privilege to serve,” he added.
The commandant reaffirmed that the NSCDC remains firmly committed to its statutory mandate of safeguarding critical infrastructure, protecting citizens, and supporting the broader security architecture of the state.
According to him, "the command under his leadership will intensify surveillance, improve intelligence-driven operations, and strengthen rapid response mechanisms to address emerging security threats'
“We will strengthen our operations, enhance intelligence gathering, and intensify efforts in safeguarding critical infrastructure and tackling all forms of criminality,” he stated.
He issued a stern warning to criminal elements operating within Kwara State, stressing that the command would not hesitate to apply the full force of the law against offenders.
“Let me assure the good people of the State that we will remain proactive and decisive. Criminal elements are hereby warned to desist, as the Command will not hesitate to apply the full weight of the law,” he warned.
Mohammed also emphasized the importance of inter-agency cooperation and partnership with stakeholders, particularly the media, in achieving sustainable security across the state.
“We will also continue to collaborate with other security agencies and stakeholders, including the media, as security is a collective responsibility,” he said.
He lauded the goodwill extended to him since his deployment, pledging professionalism, discipline, and commitment to duty.
Commandant Abbas Nda Mohammed brings over two decades of experience in security administration, operations, and inter-agency coordination within the NSCDC. the career has seen him serve in various strategic roles, including Head of Operations in Kwara State Command, Head of Anti-Vandal Unit in Niger State, and Head of Counter-Terrorism Unit in Zamfara State, among others.
He has also held command positions in the FCT, including Area Commander in Gwagwalada and Divisional Officer in Zuba, demonstrating a consistent track record in field operations and leadership.
He is widely regarded as a disciplined officer with strong leadership skills, strategic planning capacity, and a focus on teamwork and operational efficiency.
