The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has partnered with youth-based organisation, EKO 57 Support Group, to mobilise young people across the state towards promoting environmental cleanliness and responsible waste management practices.
The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of LAWMA, Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, disclosed this during a meeting with the group’s leadership at the Authority’s headquarters in Ijora-Olopa.
The delegation was led by social media influencer, Adams Kehinde, popularly known as Lege Miami, alongside Nollywood actress, Remilekun Oshodi, also known as Remi Surutu.

Gbadegesin explained that the collaboration would help expand LAWMA’s advocacy and sensitisation campaigns across the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the state.
He described LAWMA as a major employer of labour, with over 100,000 youths engaged directly and indirectly within its operational value chain, stressing that their participation remained critical to improving service delivery.
The LAWMA boss noted that youths possess the energy and creativity needed to drive behavioural change and deepen environmental awareness at the grassroots level.
According to him, the Authority remains committed to ensuring a cleaner Lagos and will continue to seek the support of residents and stakeholders to achieve that goal.
He added that LAWMA had sustained collaboration with community leaders, Community Development Associations (CDAs) and Community Development Committees (CDCs) to boost grassroots engagement, resolve service challenges and encourage compliance with waste management regulations.
Gbadegesin expressed confidence that the partnership with EKO 57 Support Group would strengthen community-based sensitisation and significantly improve environmental consciousness among residents.
In their separate remarks, Adams Kehinde and Remilekun Oshodi commended LAWMA for the initiative, noting that achieving a clean and sustainable environment requires collective effort and active youth involvement.
They pledged the group’s commitment to supporting the Authority’s vision through continuous advocacy and mobilisation across communities.
