The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faction aligned with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has declared that there is no turning back on the party’s National Convention, confirming that the high-stakes event will proceed on March 29 and 30, 2026.

This stance comes despite an escalating internal crisis and petitions from opposing blocs regarding the alleged hijack of party structures.

The leadership signaled on Wednesday that while reconciliation remains on the table, it will not be allowed to stall the transition of power.

National Publicity Secretary of the Caretaker Committee, Jungudo Haruna Mohammed, unveiled an aggressive pre-convention timetable during a briefing in Abuja, asserting that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has already monitored the prerequisite congresses.

The process kicks off on Thursday with the publication of committee lists, followed by a critical Zoning Committee meeting on March 22 to share key positions across geopolitical zones.

The roadmap toward the convention includes an emergency National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for Monday, March 23, at the FCT Minister’s Lodge in Life Camp, Abuja.

Nomination forms will go on sale immediately following the NEC meeting and remain available until March 25. With only the South-East and North-West zonal congresses left to conclude this Saturday, the Wike-aligned bloc is effectively clearing the final hurdles for a convention that aims to reshape the party’s future ahead of the next general election cycle.
