The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has debunked reports claiming that its 34 local government chairmen in Katsina State have defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

In a statement issued on Monday in Katsina, the NNPP State Chairman, Alhaji Armaya’u Abdulkadir, described the reports as misleading, asserting that none of the party’s current local government chairmen had left the party.

“Our attention has been drawn to media publications and social media reports alleging that 34 NNPP local government chairmen have joined the ADC through the former Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Mustapha Inuwa,” Abdulkadir stated.

He clarified that the individuals referenced in the reports had already left the NNPP for the All Progressives Congress (APC) shortly after the 2023 presidential elections.

“These are the same individuals now said to have defected to ADC. Their movement is therefore from APC to ADC, not from NNPP,” he explained.

Abdulkadir reaffirmed that the party remains intact in all 34 local government areas of Katsina State and is committed to strengthening its grassroots structures ahead of future elections.
