The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has drilled four oil wells in the Kolmani area of Bauchi State as part of its efforts to expand oil and gas exploration in Northern Nigeria.
Yusuf Usman, a Director at NNPCL, made this known during the two-day interactive session on Government-Citizens Engagement organised by the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation in Kaduna. He stated that the company is currently assessing the best technology to be used for the next phase of drilling operations in the region.
Usman reaffirmed NNPCL’s commitment to harnessing energy resources across the country, noting that the ongoing activities are aligned with the current administration’s push for energy security and regional development.
He also highlighted the company’s role in supporting President Bola Tinubu’s Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Initiative. According to him, five CNG and Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) plants are currently under construction in Kogi State. These projects are expected to significantly boost gas accessibility and supply across the northern region.
Usman said the developments under the Tinubu-led government are positioning the northern region to benefit more from national energy infrastructure and investment.
