LASG begins literacy training for public servants

The Lagos State Government (LASG) has commenced an accelerated digital literacy training and certification programme aimed at equipping 1,000 public servants with essential digital skills.
The initiative, which began on Monday, is being held at the Public Service Staff Development Centre (PSSDC), Magodo, with the first batch of participants already in session.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Establishment and Training, Dr. Olubusola Ajibola Abidakun, described the programme as a strategic effort to strengthen capacity development across the state’s public service.
She explained that the training, organised in collaboration with Potenergy Limited, is designed to equip workers across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) with 21st-century digital competencies.
According to Abidakun, the programme focuses on IC3 Certification and META Associate Level Certification, positioning participants to become digitally proficient and globally competitive.
She added that the training will run in four batches between April 27 and May 21, 2026, with each batch undergoing intensive sessions at the PSSDC.
Also speaking, the Director of Training, Mrs. Modupe Animashaun, noted that each batch would participate in four days of hands-on learning tailored to address existing digital gaps within the public service.
Animashaun said the curriculum goes beyond basic computer knowledge, incorporating professional-level digital skills to support Lagos State’s transition to a more technology-driven administrative system.
She further described the inclusion of META Associate Level Certification as a significant addition, noting that it would help build a network of digitally skilled officers capable of driving transformation across MDAs.
In his remarks, the Head of Learning and Development at Potenergy Limited, Mr. Udebuana Oscar, said the partnership reflects a shared commitment to bridging the digital divide in the public sector.
He assured that participants would receive a blend of theoretical and practical training aligned with global IC3 standards, enabling them to function effectively in today’s digital economy.
The Lagos State Government noted that the programme is part of ongoing efforts to enhance service delivery and improve efficiency across the public sector.
