‎Lagos signs MoU with UK football club

‎The Lagos State Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Abbey Rangers Football Club of the United Kingdom to promote grassroots football development.

‎The agreement, signed at Teslim Balogun Stadium, aims to nurture young talent across communities and schools in the State.

‎Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Bolaji Ogunlende, said the initiative aligns with efforts to use sports as a tool for social inclusion and economic empowerment.

‎He noted that developing grassroots football will provide viable career opportunities for young people and help reduce social vices.

‎Also speaking, the Director-General of the Lagos State Sports Commission, Lekan Fatodu, said the partnership reflects the State’s commitment to structured sports development programmes.

‎He added that the initiative will focus on early talent identification and professional training to prepare young athletes for global opportunities.

‎The partnership is expected to strengthen Lagos’ position as a hub for sports development in Nigeria.
