The Chief Judge of Lagos State, Justice Kazeem Alogba, has sworn in 126 newly appointed Notaries Public in Lagos, reinforcing the state’s legal and judicial framework.
The swearing-in ceremony, which took place on Wednesday at the Osborne High Court Complex, Ikoyi, included 11 inductees who participated virtually. The event was confirmed in a statement shared via the official Lagos State government X handle on Thursday.
Addressing the newly inducted notaries, Justice Alogba stressed the importance of integrity, diligence and strict adherence to ethical standards in the discharge of their responsibilities. He noted that Notaries Public play a critical role in the administration of justice and the credibility of legal documentation.
According to the Chief Judge, notarised documents must always be lawful, authentic and thoroughly verified before endorsement, as such documents often carry serious national and international implications.
Speaking on behalf of the newly sworn-in notaries, Mrs Opeyokun Adejoke pledged that the inductees would uphold professionalism and avoid actions capable of bringing disrepute to the office of the Chief Judge or the Lagos State Judiciary.
One of the new notaries, Somadina Okorie, described the induction process as smooth and well-organised, expressing readiness to contribute positively to public service delivery.
