The Lagos State Government has announced partial road closures across key parts of the state ahead of scheduled commissioning events on April 8 and 9, 2026.

In a traffic advisory issued by the Ministry of Transportation, motorists were informed that the temporary closures are necessary to ensure safety and smooth coordination of activities during the commissioning of critical infrastructure projects.

According to the advisory, on Wednesday, April 8, the Opebi–Mende Link Bridge will be commissioned between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., affecting traffic movement around Opebi, Allen, Ikeja and Ojota corridors.

On Thursday, April 9, two separate events are scheduled. The first, taking place between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., is the commissioning of Tolu Schools Complex, which is expected to impact traffic in Olodi Apapa and Ajegunle areas.

Later in the day, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., another event will be held around Eko Hotel and Victoria Island, with motorists advised to avoid the area or prepare for delays during the period.

The government stated that officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority will be deployed to manage traffic and assist road users across affected locations.

Motorists were further urged to cooperate with traffic officials and adhere strictly to directives to ensure seamless vehicular movement.

Speaking on the advisory, Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, appealed for patience and understanding from residents, assuring that measures have been put in place to minimise disruptions.
