Hoodlums have attacked the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Party Secretariat, Basiri, Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.
The yet-to-be-identified arsonists carried out the heinous attack under the cover of darkness in the early hours of Tuesday.
A 1,000-capacity canopy, hundreds of plastic chairs, banners, and posters were burnt to ashes.
Some residents who spoke to Nigeria NewsDirect correspondent under the condition of anonymity said the hoodlums stormed the newly renovated secretariat in the wee hours of Tuesday and set fire to the canopy, chairs, banners, and flags.
Parts of the building were also torched, but only the windows and some wooden furniture were reduced to ashes. Party members who arrived at the secretariat to begin preparations were shocked to see the ruins and smoke rising from what the faceless hoodlums left behind.
Though the ADC is yet to make a formal statement regarding the matter, members are optimistic that the event of the party slated for today will continue despite the attack.
