The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced the schedule for the collection of Permanent Voter Cards and a mock accreditation exercise in preparation for the forthcoming Anambra State Governorship Election.
According to a statement signed by the Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Mrs Victoria Eta-Messi, the collection of Permanent Voter Cards for newly registered voters will commence on Wednesday, October 22, and end on Sunday, October 26, 2025.
The Commission urged all eligible voters to collect their cards at their designated Registration Areas, adding that collection must be done personally, as proxy collection would not be allowed under any circumstance.
INEC described the exercise as an important step for voters who wish to participate in the election, encouraging residents to take advantage of the opportunity to obtain their cards before the deadline.
In the same statement, the Commission announced that a mock accreditation exercise will take place on Saturday, October 25, 2025, in selected polling units across the three senatorial districts of the state.
The mock accreditation is intended to test the upgraded Bimodal Voter Accreditation System and assess the efficiency of uploading results to the INEC Result Viewing Portal ahead of the main election.
The polling units selected for the test include Igwédimma Primary School in Amawbia II and Ifeadigo Hall in Nkpor II under Anambra Central, Girls Secondary School in Nteje and Umunoke Public Square in Aguleri under Anambra North, and Central School Ekwulobia and RCM KDT School Ajalli under Anambra South.
The Commission encouraged voters in these locations to take part in the mock exercise, explaining that their participation would help identify and address potential technical or operational challenges before the election day.
INEC reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, credibility, and efficiency, assuring Nigerians that all necessary measures were being put in place to deliver a smooth and credible election in Anambra State.
The Anambra governorship election is scheduled to hold on November 8, 2025, marking the end of Governor Charles Soludo’s first term under the All Progressives Grand Alliance.
