The All Progressive Congress (APC) has affirmed the candidature of Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji as the consensus candidate of the party for the 2026 gubernatorial election in the State.
The motion was moved in Ado-Ekiti on Monday by the Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele and seconded by the Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Stephen Aribasoye.
The consensus affirmation was established when the 885 delegates of the party across the 177 wards in Ekiti unanimously adopted the candidacy of Biodun Oyebanji.
The Governor Usman Ododo led team had earlier oversee the delegates nominations and primary processes which was declared a success by various Civil Organisation Societies.
Despite some disgruntled members decrying the process of the exercise which allegedly omitted some card carrying members of the party names from the register book, the Ado Pavilion was filled to the brim as delegates were accredited in preparation for the consensus primaries.
In his acceptance speech, Governor Biodun Oyebanji appreciated President Bola Tinubu for his support over the years, saying his governance style has been a benchmark for all political actors in the country.
